Satyam scandal

The chairman of Satyam Computer Services, India's 4th-biggest software services exporter, announced his resignation on 7 Jan 2009. He said that the company's recent profits had been overstated. He apologised to staff and shareholders and said he was prepared to face the legal consequences.

In his letter of resignation, Ramalinga Raju described how an initial cover-up for a poor quarterly performance escalated. Raju and his brother, B Rama Raju, were then arrested by Andhra Pradesh police on charges of criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, cheating, falsification of records and forgery. Raju faces up to ten years in prison if convicted of misleading investors.Raju had also opened multiple dummy accounts through relatives and friends and used them to trade in Satyam's shares, violating the insider trading norm. It has now been alleged that these accounts may have been the means of siphoning off the missing funds.

Solar eclipse 2009

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth so that the Sun is wholly or partially obscured. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from the Earth. At least two and up to five solar eclipses occur each year on Earth, with between zero and two of them being total eclipses. Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any location because during each eclipse totality exists only along a narrow corridor in the relatively tiny area of the Moon's umbra. (wikipedia)

Love you dad

It has been long since i actually sat down and have a long chat with mom. I have been really busy lately and couldn't really spend much time with her. Just get to see her in the morning before i leave to University and once i am back from tuition classes.

I just cant believe it has been 6 years since dad left us. He had a bypass operation but it had some complication and he died on the 25.01.2003. I was only 18 then, waiting for my SPM results. Life has been so different ever since.
During the days when he was alive i really admired and respected him a lot but i rarely actually let him know. I was really close to him the last two years as my mom was really sickly and she was admitted in hospital and that was the time that we actually spend a lot of time getting to know each other as it was only both of us at home. Sister was still staying in University at that time.

We often appreciate someone only one you have lost them. I just one to say Dad I love you.

Top University in Malaysia 2008

Nice number plate

I was driving in Subang Jaya ss15 in front of Asia Cafe and i came across this car with a very nice number plate.
As you can see it looks like 080808. Its definitely DBD 808 as it cant be DB 0808 as numbers cant start with zero unless 4D.

Another indian dies in police custody

Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the post-mortem showed that Kugan, a suspected car thief who was being questioned at the Taipan police station in Subang Jaya, died of liquid in his lungs. (The star)

Kugan a/l Ananthan was detained on Jan 15 on suspicion of being involved in stealing luxury cars in Sungai Chua, Kajang, and was brought to the Taipan police station on Tuesday where he suddenly collapsed and died while being questioned. (The star)

Changan Era CM8

Changan Era CM8 is one crappy looking car. It is assembled by Changan Berjaya Auto Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Berjaya Corp Bhd. They plan to sell the Era CM8 from RM37,716 on-the-road.

From the comment in Paultan's blog, the one that caught my eye was "Even Proton Juara looks better" I guess thats the biggest insult as Proton Juara is the worst looking car by proton and most chinese or indian even call it as a "kereta mayat". One of my student even called it as a SIM CARD car as it looks like a sim card from the side.

I personally this Proton Juara still looks slightly better than this Tata Nano. Its the cheapest car in the world. Its more known as the 1lakh car. The car was to be sold about INR 100,000 = about RM 7,338.40. Please do comment. I would love to hear your view's.

STPM INDIANS

Dear readers,

I have created a blog to give guidance to our Indian STPM students who are applying for local universities. We all know there are very few Indians in the local government universities (IPTA). There are various reasons to it but one that we can make a difference is by applying to universities rationally according to the results that we have obtained. This is because most of us (Indians) don’t really know what is the actual requirement of a particular course in the University. Most of us still have the conception that there is a quota system and thinking that the government has allocate seats for us. The fact is it doesn't work that way anymore.

This stats are obtained from a chinese website ( kexijifen). This group have been taking in statistic of students entering into government university and they later publish and have succeeded in increasing the number of students entering government university particularly for critical courses.

Remember that this is just guidance and it’s not the actual entry requirement because it varies from year to year. The variation is very little but the competitions is getting stiffer. When you are looking into the data please look at the MEAN and not the MINIMUM to be in the very safe side. As sometimes the MINIMUM value will be very low, probably because there is someone who entered on the second intake.

Please do apply your choice wisely and don't simply apply for course's that you know that you will never go if you get as you might let another Indian probably lose his / her place because of you.

Happy Ponggal

Thai Pongal (தைப்பொங்கல்) is a harvest festival equivalent to a thanksgiving event celebrated by Tamils across the world on the first day of the Tamil month Thai. Pongal in Tamil means "boiling over or spill over." The act of boiling over of milk in the clay pot is considered to denote future prosperity for the family. This festival is celebrated for four days.

• Bhogi is the day where the ritual of throwing away and burning old clothes and unwanted things takes place to signify the end of an old era and the start of a new one.

• The second day is Ponggal day, which is also known as veetu ponggal where Tamils give thanks to Mother Earth and the Sun God (Surya bhagavan) for their bounty.

• Mattu ponggal (cow worship) is celebrated on the third day, which is to offer thanks to the cattle, which plough the land and provide milk for the family.

• Finally, the fourth day is the celebration of the kanni ponggal, especially for the young maidens who want to seek good husbands.

How to improve life for the year 2009?

I came across this tips in my mail few days ago and i was thinking that actually we don't really do many of these simple thing's that would make our life

1. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day. And while you walk, smile .

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

3. Sleep for 7 hours.

4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

5. Play more games.

6. Read more books than you did in the year before.

7. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, and prayer. They provide us with daily fuel

for our busy lives.

8. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.

9. Dream more while you are awake.

10. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is

manufactured in plants.

11. Drink plenty of water.

12. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

13. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.

14. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the

past. That will ruin your present happiness.

15. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your

energy in the positive present moment.

16. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of

the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn

will last a lifetime.

17. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

18. Smile and laugh more.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.

20. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
